I know I say a lot of recipes are easy…but with this one, I really mean it. Don’t be fooled by the adjective filled extra wordy name of this recipe.
Yesterday was my first time using our new slow-cooker. I felt like a spoiled brat coming home to a delicious smelling dinner. And then I remembered that I actually did make it.
To begin, buy a bone-in turkey breast. (Ours was about 5 lbs, and frozen). I thawed it in the refrigerator all day Sunday).
Find a friend to rinse off the turkey breast. I found this guy.
Put it in your slow cooker.
Now, take two packets of dry onion soup mix and rub it on your turkey breast. Dump any excess mix into the slow cooker too.
Next, add some chopped onion and some carrots.
I added a little bit of water and some salt and pepper and put it in the fridge overnight on Sunday, to let the turkey breast soak in some of the onion soup flavor.
Monday morning, Country Boy set the slow-cooker out, put it on high, and set the timer for 8 hours.
I came home to this.
Tender, juicy, fall-off-the-bone turkey with carrots in a delicious, savory onion soup.
I cooked up some instant brown rice to put our turkey over.
That was a smart move.
Putting this:
On top of brown rice, like this:
Was pure magic.
And since we bought a 5 pound turkey, our wish was granted.
